The Lopdell Film Festival is back on the rails with a selection of new release, award-winning films. Taking place over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of October there will be films for all tastes and ages. Saturday morning10:30am starts with a selection of films from the 'Pictorial Parade' archives. 'Power to Piha' (1956) connecting Piha to the National Grid, 'Guitar Boom' Auckland made electric guitars (1963) 'Dustie' rubbish collection (1971) and many more to make up an hour long programme. FREE admission to this morning event, a chance to pick up a programme, enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea and get your tickets for the weekend's feast of films.

Several of the titles selected are brand new releases, 'Fire of Love' a five-star rated doco. hot from this year's International Film Festival. Another film, 'Redemption of a Rogue', is a dark humoured drama from Ireland, showing five months before it goes on general release in New Zealand cinemas, all thanks to Fergus O'Grady, director of Limelight, who lives locally and is providing three films for the festival, he is a great supporter of FLICKS.

The programme includes animation, drama, comedy, documentary, award winning films from all over the world, Mexico, France, USA, New Zealand, Australia, Ireland, Canada. Ending on the Sunday night with 'Roma' a modern classic that just has to be seen on the big screen, described as 'life-affirming without irony or pretense' it reminds us of the potential for love, frailty, and the unbreakable bonds between people, just right for a festival finale.

Tickets are just $10 and will be on sale from the Titirangi Pharmacy, eventfinda and on door (if not sold out) Programmes can be picked up from Lopdell House foyer with full details and trailers on-line at, www.lodellprecinct.org.nz and flickscinema.weebly.com
