With over 30 years' active mining at Macraes, OceanaGold has a large amount of geologic information to help guide us in the hunt for gold. Using this information the Exploration team at OceanaGold target prospective areas with the goal of defining resources, which get developed into economically sustainable reserves and extracted by open-pit and underground mining methods.

Kate started out mining in Reefton, moving to Macraes when Reefton closed. She has been lucky enough in her time for OceanaGold to work in Open Pit, Exploration and Underground. Kate is now working as a Project Geologist as part of a small team, working across both the Resource Development and Open Pit Geology teams.
