First Alamein and Alma Halfa: Reflections 80 Years later-In June 1942, the 2nd New Zealand Division was rushed from Syria to Egypt to help stem Rommel's latest advance. This talk examines New Zealand's role in the First Battle of Alamein. It suggests that the turn of the tide against Nazi Germany started with the little known battle of Alam Halfa in August 1942.
