The Newtown Community & Cultural Centre is proud to present... Newtown's Adventure Playground: Baobab photo exhibition.
Did you know that back in the 70s there used to be a huge ramshackle, DIY adventure playground on the corner of Daniell and Constable Streets? There was! It was a radical space for tamariki and rangatahi to explore and grow.
Photographer John McWilliam dropped by the adventure playground in 1974 and took a series of striking photos which have now returned to Newtown for your viewing pleasure!
Drop by any day in March during Baobab's opening hours to check out/purchase the prints, or a photo book showing all of the images, plus some history of the playground (and obvs grab a delish Baobab coffee or kai at the same time!)
Photo's and photobooks are available for purchase.
A small opening/launch event will take place on Friday 4th March from 6pm-7pm with a couple of short speeches and a chance to enjoy live music from a local jazz duo.
Vaccine pass is required by Baobab cafe for entry.
