Ōmakere Coastal Hill Country Walk

A simply stunning way to take in the breath-taking landscape of Central Hawke’s Bay.

For the third year, the Ōmakere School & Community Association brings you the Coastal Hill Country Walk fundraiser through stunning private farmland in the heart of the Ōmakere district. The walk is a fantastic way to experience the impressive landscapes of Central Hawke’s Bay, with views from ocean to mountain ranges.

The Hill Country Walk will be a 17km loop across rolling farmland, steep country and through native bush with a 360-degree vista.

You will need a good level of fitness, good walking or trail shoes, walking poles, if you have them, and warm clothing for when you stop at lunch. There will be a delicious homemade packed lunch, plus tea & coffee included and a small number of stalls at the Ōmakere School at the end of the walk.

Ōmakere Coastal Hill Country Walk is a part of Central Hawke’s Bay Spring Fling. The Spring Fling is a series of standout events through September and October, capturing the essence of springtime in Central Hawke’s Bay!

Spring is a stunning time of year in Central Hawke’s Bay and the Spring Fling is a wonderful showcase of the region.

Spring Fling events span from Otāne to Takapau, Tikokino to Porangahau, and offer plenty of variety for visitors to experience the very best Central Hawke’s Bay in spring.
