Puanga Twilight Festival

To welcome in the Māori New Year and celebrate Puanga, come down to Ahimate Reserve and get amongst the fun festivities that we have planned!

This family-friendly festival will include a number of kapa haka and musical performances, food and retail stalls, Māori storytelling, and will end with a spectacular fireworks display.

Award winning Wellington-based artist Amba Holly will be taking the stage as the event’s main headline act and will wow the crowds with her soulful RnB sounds.

There will be a designated area for tamariki, with mini golf, a UV paint spinner and UV colouring-in activities.

You’ll be able to grab some kai from one of the many food trucks that’ll be onsite, with hāngī and fried bread in abundance!

If you’re planning to bring your dog, please keep them on a leash, despite it being an off-leash area. And you may need to leave before the fireworks display at 8:40pm.

Also, with the river nearby, please keep a close eye on your tamariki.

The site may be muddy, so please wear sneakers or gumboots and bring a picnic blanket to sit on.

Parking will be available at Ahimate (near the dog agility park) and at Paneiri Park. Since large numbers are expected, wardens will be guiding traffic and parking may flow to surrounding streets.

Accessible parking will be available close to the site and shuttles will be at hand for those who require assistance.
