Class Name: Quilting: Domestic Poetry

Class Size: 8 (max number of students)

Class Description

To quilt is to archive, to collect, to preserve. Learn how to gather together the textile remnants of your life using the traditional craft of patchwork and quilting. Through the quilting stitch, three layers become one, and many small pieces come together to create something both beautiful and functional.

In this one-day workshop for beginners you will learn the steps of creating a patchwork quilt, from sketch to finished work, in a simple, uncomplicated and mostly ruler free way. You will learn some easy quilt blocks that you can make your own and how I design quilts using intuition and chance.

You are encouraged to bring a piece of clothing, fabric or textile of your own to immortalise with provided fabrics into a small wall hanging. Using the skills you learn in this day workshop you will be able to create a full sized quilt of your own.
