Some of Rex Jones' wonderful watercolour paintings are on show upstairs at the Hastings Community Art Centre, in Russell Street.
Rex Jones is one of our favourite New Zealand watercolour artist's, who lives and paints in Havelock North. Rex was born in Hastings and has been capturing the bright light and warmth of Hawke’s Bay in watercolour since his school days in the 1950s.
Best known for his landscape paintings, Rex’s favourite subjects are country scenes and farm buildings, marine scenes and boats, and urban scenes depicting the Bay’s character architecture. Rex also paints still life, animals, flowers and portraits, and paints special commissions by request.
