This very special concert combines the power of the NZSO, the precision of renowned conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and the passion of Ria Hall, one of Aotearoa’s most exciting artists.
A proud Wahine Māori born and bred in Tauranga, Ria Hall fearlessly combines hip-hop beats, soul, and reggae, along with her own background steeped in kapa haka and other traditional Māori performing arts.
Singing in both te Reo and English, her work engages deeply with te Ao Māori.
These performances will see Hall and the NZSO combine for the first time to perform her 2017 album Rules of Engagement from start to finish.
Rule of engagement draws on themes of love and war, revolution and change. The album is a personal journey not only through Hall’s own life and experiences but also through the shared experiences of her whānau.
