The perfect Christmas present for your environmentally friendly friends: A waste free earring making workshop and/or a pair of sterling silver earrings made from recycled silver, in a green workshop.
In this workshop participants will be get to choose a portion of silver scrap made up of different gauge wires, plate and old jewellery components. B design themselves some gorgeous earrings: through learning the basics of silversmithing: design, cutting, sawing, filing, texturing, shaping, soldering, oxidising, polishing!
‘You might already have something in mind which you can bring to life from within your scrap pieces. Or, you can – which is how I love designing pieces – let the scrap pieces inspire an outrageous puzzle piece to come together!’
Tutor: Ruth O’Connell – Bronnsmith Jewellery
Date: Saturday, 10th December
Time: 11am – 3pm
Cost: $185
All materials, as well as tea and coffee, supplied. Participants are welcome to bring their own additional scrap silver (not to be melted down, but to be reformed by hand). If a pendant is preferred over earrings, that’s fine. However, no chain or neckband will be provided.
Ruth is a resident artist here in the Satellite Studios, here at The Incubator. She has been working in jewellery – retail, design and film costume, for 13 years, but has been self-employed as silversmith for the last 7 years. Both her workshops and design process have a waste free focus, with her designs occupying the stranger and more alternative realms of jewellery and object design.
You can follow her work at BRONNSMITH on both Facebook and Instagram, as well as her website – www.bronsmithjewellery.com
