Selwyn Community Education is based at Selwyn College, Kohimarama, Auckland.
This workshop will run 10am - 4pm over both Thursday and Friday 28 - 29 April 2022.
Join our patient sewing teacher, Karen, and learn the basics of laying out, cutting, assembling and sewing a simple skirt. Karen will supply the pattern and it is yours to keep.
You will need to bring fabric and thread as below:
- 1.5 m of fabric. Cottons, chambray or lightweight denim only. You can use a one-way design, but no obvious stripes or plaids please.
- PREPARATION: it is essential to prewash and dry your fabric before the course to allow for shrinkage.
- Bring 1 roll of matching thread, or in a contrasting colour if you prefer
- If possible, bring your own sewing machine. Otherwise, you can use one of the school Berninas.
The sewing room is fully equipped with all equipment, but it is handy to have your own kit comprising:
- Fabric scissors
- Tape measure
- Snips
- Pins
- Unpicker
And bring your lunch and drink bottle each day.
Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
