Chalice Making Workshop - Celebrating Summer

This cast glass workshop is an introduction to the basics of lost wax casting in 3D.

To celebrate the Summer days in Tamaki Makaurau, this workshop will guide you through to work with wax to build your Chalice to cast in gaffer lead crystal glass.. The coloured glass for this workshop will be a choice of two colours due to availability; a colours that reminds us of spring or summer. This will be revealed at the workshop, but be rest assured it will be a spring colour, or colour that's part of the 2022 collection of spring colours.

You will learn how to build wax models using templates, learn the art of cutting sheet wax to make forms to imbue your chalice with. You will learn about reservoirs and kiln firing and the basics of cold working on the following Saturday.

Bring with you a sense of inquiry and learn in this fun and inclusive workshop.

Course participants on this workshop are limited to a maximum of 4 people only so first in first serve.. i.e. registration form completed once emailed to you and payment for the workshop ($390.00 each).

If you have ever wondered how to cast glass, this is the perfect workshop, and after the following Saturday, you will have a Chalice of your own to take home to complete the finishing or just to look at it for years to come.

The workshop includes up to 1kg of gaffer lead crystal to cast your chalice. Due to the current Covid situation, the workshop requires all course participants to bring their own food and drink.
