Learn how to make your own yarn from t-shirts ready to be thrown out (and help save the planet in the process). T-shirt yearn provided - choose your own colour combination and we will crochet a handled basket together. All materials provided (t-shirt, yarn, crochet hook) - and you’ll take away instructions so you can crochet at home.

*Must know basic crochet and how to follow a basic crochet pattern*

Bookings essential. Spaces are limited. All ages welcome – having basic crochet skills, key. You are welcome to join us for a potluck lunch at 12:30 pm.

About the facilitator, Marita Green: Marita began her passion for all things handmade in fibre, winning prizes in the Hokonui Fashion Awards (knitted section) in 2007 and 2008. Now a professional potter, Marita’s contemporary ceramics are sold in galleries throughout New Zealand. But she still loves textiles and is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skill to help soften our impact on the planet.

Marita lives in New Plymouth with her with her knife-maker husband Aaron, and two teenage children.

About the hosts: This workshop is hosted by the Upsewing Collective of Taranaki Timebank.
