The word TAHA translated in Tongan means 'one' or 'together as one'.
TAHA looks into the family of Uncle Siale Tau - a middle-aged tongan man who continues to serve his family despite tradition weighing heavy on him. We get to see bits and pieces of the lives of those who surround him, who depend on him and who admire him for all he does. Although so much is happening in the family, it seems as though the oneness and togetherness is beginning to show its cracks. Uncle Charlie can only say and do so much for his loved ones, but in the end sometimes the things people lose can only be found in unexpected places.
The position of a 'Fa'e Tangata' or (literal translation) Motherman is mainly upheld by the younger brother, or brothers of women in families. As they grow older and have their own families, their duty is to serve, support and give all that they can financially, emotionally and mentally to their sisters and even sometimes the rest of their brothers in order to tauhi va or respect the boundaries of one another, whilst maintaining the idea of 'everything is temporary, but family is forever'.
