This talk will now take place during Term 2 - date to be confirmed.

Dr Simon Pollard delves into the world of weird and wonderful bugs in this family-friendly talk on Te Rā O Ngā Tamariki | Children's Day.

Simon will entertain and educate as he tells us all about the Mad Hatterpillar, or Uraba lugens, an Australian caterpillar that has made itself at home here in Aotearoa New Zealand. As she sheds her skin, she collects her old heads and wears them as hats ! Simon will tell us why, and share many more interesting facts and photos that the young (and young at heart) will love.

Dr Simon Pollard, Adjunct Professor of Science Communication at University of Canterbury, is a spider biologist and award winning writer and photographer.

This talk is suitable for ages 7 and up.

See the other talks on offer in this series, Sunday afternoons at 2pm, available on Eventbrite.

Tickets must be booked in advance (no door sales).
If you want to explore the Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House visitor experience after the talk, admission charges apply.
