Māori musical instruments have been called ngā reo o te whenua – voices of the land, and include treasures made from pounamu. Come learn about, and hear, Māori musical instruments made from this precious material.

Dr Jennifer Cattermole will lead this fascinating talk where you will get to hear the sounds of our land and of the South Pacific.

Dr Cattermole is one of Aotearoa’s leading ethnomusicologists with a particular interest in Māori, Moriori and Pacific Islander music. She is passionate about taonga pūoro (traditional Māori musical instruments).
