Born Joseph Frank Keaton, The Great Buster was a stage star before he celebrated his fourth birthday. Born to a vaudevillian family in Piqua, Kansas, he acquired his name due to his uncanny ability to take falls without injuring himself.
While Keaton's father thought movies were a lesser form, Buster decided dipped his toes into the short, one-reel pictures in 1920. The rest is history. Film critic Roger Ebert wrote of Keaton's "extraordinary period from 1920 to 1929" when he "worked without interruption" as having made him "the greatest actor-director in the history of the movies."
Join us on the 26th of June, and you'll see why. With gorgeous, new, 4K restorations of Keaton's work, these films have never looked better in their 100+ year history.
We will have an intermission between shows, giving you time to process Buster's hilarious, dangerous, and mind blowing antics...just in time to head back in or more. If you're unfamiliar with Buster's work, this night will be a glorious gateway into his world. You won't forget it or regret it.
