This workshop is held alongside Bethany Matai Edmunds exhibition 'Tau Atu e!'

'Tau Atu e!' is a solo exhibition by fibre sculptor Bethany Matai Edmunds, materialising her journey of returning home to the lands of her tupuna. Born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau, Edmunds recently fulfilled her lasting desire to live in Muriwhenua in the far north and physicalise her connection to the place of her ancestors and her identity, tying her to her iwi of Ngāti Kuri.

In this exhibition, Edmunds’ is building on the ground-breaking kaitiakitanga work that Ngāti Kuri are doing in the environmental space. Depicting stories through woven objects and sculptural installation, Edmunds explores whakapapa, history and materiality from the natural environment of Te Hiku o te Ika.
