"The Byrds and the Bees"

In many ways it's been a hard year, but Christchurch choir Schola Cantorum aims to lighten things up a bit with a programme of madrigals and part-songs in The Chamber at The Piano, 156 Armagh St, on Saturday 7 May.

Come along at 2pm for some light-hearted animal songs which celebrate the birds, bees and other animals and insects on our lovely planet. There's some humorous songs, and a round that everyone can join in. The concert will be conducted by the outgoing musical director Felicity O'Brien and her successor Courtney Hickmott, who will also sing solo in Maurice Greens's Thou Visitest the Earth. Accompanist is Denis Guyan.

Mindful of the war in Ukraine, the choir will present two religious songs by Ukrainian composer Bortniansky and proceeds from the concert will go towards humanitarian relief in Ukraine. Door sales only, with a suggested koha of $20.
