The WoodCraft Gallery showcases and sells the artworks of about 43 wood artists and other crafters sourced both locally and from throughout New Zealand.

Individually worked sculptural pieces, hand-carved by local artist Andrew Lyons. Lathe turned kitchen wears in rimu, matai and walnut by Chch crafter Tom Pearse. Stunning hollow vessel urns, bowls and platters using rimu, beech and kaouri. A rang of jewellery boxes in native woods some with inlay ed woods. To name but a few artisans. Perfect as art pieces or special gifts.

We showcase clocks, boxes, bowls, kitchen utensils, toys, puzzles, albums, vases and our own line of locally made Christmas decorations, rose windows (Xmas tree ornaments, magnets and multiple sizes to hang on the wall or as coasters) and small rimu pendant replicas of both of Chch's beloved Cathedrals.

The woods used are predominantly NZ natives but some artists use fruitwoods and exotics that have been grown here since settler times. Hand-carved, lathe-turned, bandsawn and laser cut to name but a few techniques used.

The WoodCraft Gallery has been established on The Boulevard in our shipping container lane since moving out of our Arts Center gallery shop due to the earthquakes of 2011. It had been trading at The Arts Center for 26 years before the quakes.

We also have hand-carved New Zealand Jade (greenstone, pounamu) worked by a family in Greymouth on The West Coast of the South Island.
