The Napier Sailing Club is thrilled to be hosting the Toyota Optimist and Starling National Championships 2022. This is the first time that both the Optimist and Starling classes will be combined in a single regatta which is expected to attract up to 300 sailors, their families and support crew, to the Hawkes Bay.
The event will run over the Easter weekend from Saturday 16th April until Tuesday 19th April and we intend to have racing on all four days. Access to the Napier Sailing Club over this period will require presentation of your My Vaccine Pass however there will be many vantage points around Ahuriri and Westshore from where you can view the stunning display of the boats on the water.
The Napier Sailing Club is extremely passionate about the ocean and our environment and will be running this event under the Sailors of the Sea Clean Regatta Programme. This programme will provide us with the guidelines and best practices to ensure that we run an environmentally friendly and sustainable event.
