With Daneil Cunningham
This voice training is for anyone who wants to increase their vocal confidence and enjoy being able to fully express themselves.

Join Daneil Cunningham in a second series of group VoiceWork workshops that will help you make connections between your body and your voice. You will be guided to open to the power of your unique voice and to access the full range of your voice. This series will focus on how to open to the range of your voice while speaking, learning ways to access the potential of your voice while communicating through words.

Daneil will send poetry and extracts from dramatic texts before the first workshop. Participants are encouraged to learn these words before attending the workshop.

Dan uses:

• physical exercises,

• breath-work,

• singing of open sounds, and

• work with words.

No matter who you are, this workshop will help you reach your vocal potential and develop your presence, professionally and personally.

Bio:

Dan is a multi-disciplinary artist. He arrived in Aotearoa from London in August 2020. He was first introduced to yoga at drama school in London by an innovative teacher called Monique Hunt. In 2014 Dan met his collaborator Mark, a classical Indian dancer and a yogi who became his second teacher - training daily for a period of three years. Daneil gained his 200HR yoga teacher qualification from the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta centre in Kerala, India. After this period of training he undertook a pilgrimage through Kerala and Tamil Nadu, witnessing oracular rituals and pre-Vedic traditions of worship of the Divine Mother. Professionally, he has taught yoga throughout London with over 200 regular students in the UK, teaching yoga in acting schools, in public classes/workshops and in private lessons. Daneil works as a youth mentor and a creative facilitator for The Kindness Institute in Auckland.

He began exploring yoga, creative movement and voice work while training as an actor in London. With Teatr ZAR (of the Grotowski Institute, Poland), he toured to Madrid, Tbilisi, Paris, Istanbul, Edinburgh and Warsaw. He became founder and lead performer of SoundBoxed (UK) who created and toured unique immersive theatre for three years. In 2016, he began his solo career. He creates transformational artworks that explore ecology through performances, photography, film and participatory workshops. He has performed his work in London’s queer night clubs, art venues, studio theatres, and at an Irish priests’ school and the foot of an Icelandic volcano. He also taught yoga and creative movement practice at four London drama schools (including Identity and Arts Ed - British pioneers of decolonising actor training) and led projects for adults and young people at the city’s lead arts hubs — Oval House (now Brixton House) and Roundhouse. He arrived in Aotearoa from London in August 2020.

Daneil uses his 14 years experience in vocal research and teaching to also lead voice training to yoga teachers and most recently was invited back to Auckland Yoga Academy to work with their yoga teacher trainee's. He works with students to connect to the power of their individual voice, enabling them to find vocal confidence when delivering the teachings of yoga.
