Alan MacDonald Cajon
Born in Scotland, Alan’s interests in music took off in his teens in Dunedin when he formed a rock band. After moving to Auckland in his 20’s he performed in a folk-based trio performing mainly original material written by Rod McKinnon. In 1997, inspired by Nairobi Trio, he formed VoxNova to perform Latin and Gitanos style music with musician from all over the globe. VoxNova has enjoyed many lengthy bar residencies, the most recent at Caretaker bar is suspended under current conditions. Alan created additional bands: Zydecosis, Cajynx! for a residency at Deadshot Bar Ponsonby and he was a member of Celtic Connection at a resident Grand Central Bar, Ponsonby for some years.

James Sneyd Violin
Originally from Dunedin, he has travelled the world in his capacity of Mathematics Professor performing wherever he is located. James is highly skilled at any genre he adopts from Celtic, Country Rock, Manouche and Latin jazz. James has just the right vintage sound the band requires as well as a talent for original material. Audiences enjoy the blitzing music duels with other melodists.

Nigel Gavin Guitar
Originally from Long Island, New York, Nigel is a leading figure, teacher, performer, composer, locally and internationally. Master of the 7 string guitar, in fact, almost anything with strings he has performed with many well-known groups such as, Nairobi Trio, the Fondue Set, the Jews Brothers, the Blue Bottom Stompers, Gitbox Rebellion, now returned to Voxnova after a break of a few years.

Aaron Codell
Wellington born, a long-term member of VoxNova having previously accumulated great deal of experience performing for jazz greats Cleo Laine, Mark Murphy and saxophonist George Coleman, Annie Crummer, Hello Sailor, King Kapisi, as well as vocalists Caitlin Smith, Jan Hellriegel and Linn Lorkin. Aaron has also supported a long list of theatrical productions and occasionally moonlights with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra.
