Well Water Check

If your drinking water comes from a private well, come along to a well water check to test your water quality.

Organised by the Orari Temuka Opihi Pareora (OTOP) Water Zone Committee, the well water checks will offer a free check of nitrate concentrations and further information about monitoring your private drinking supply.

If you live rurally, there’s potential for a range of contaminants to reach your private well and, unlike council drinking water systems, it's your responsibility to check your water is safe to drink.

Bring a sample of your water to: test for nitrate concentrations and get help understanding the results; talk to experts about potential options to improve your private drinking water supply; find out about other drinking water standards you should be meeting, including E. coli levels and where to get water tested; talk to water zone committee members about water quality issues in your area and what action is being taken.
