Join the Conservation Volunteers NZ, Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne, and Friends of Taupō Swamp to get your hands dirty removing weeds in this unique habitat. Everyone welcome! Sessions start at 10am and 12pm, after a briefing you are welcome to stay any length of time (up to 2pm).
Taupō Swamp is in Plimmerton, north of Wellington. It's home to 19 species of bird, a diverse range of plants, native fish such as the longfin eel and kokopu - a treasure for native wildlife right on our doorstep.
Please register if you would like to join us and bring your whānau along.
To learn more about this amazing habitat visit the Friends of Taupō Swamp and Catchment website.
What to wear/bring: Sturdy boots, long sleeves, and long trousers. Ensure you pack warm clothes such as a jacket, beanie, jumper and a rain jacket to protect you against wind and rain. Bring a full water bottle. We’ll provide gloves, tools, light refreshments, and sunscreen.
Free transport to and from Wellington and Porirua city centre is available but spots are limited (contact us through the registration link to arrange a pick-up).
