Whanganui River Markets

Two fabulous markets on the same site at the same time.

With over 120 stalls, we have the Whanganui Farmers Market featuring local growers of fresh produce and plants, producers of cheese, baking, bread, jams and pickles, sitting alongside the River Traders, where clever makers and collectors of an array of crafts, collectables, handcrafted jewellery, clothing and much more provide an eclectic mix to discover a treasure or two.

All this and a variety of ready to eat taste treats from a row of street food vendors.

All this and a delightful riverbank setting to enjoy a coffee and a delicious brunch with friends and family.

The view is framed by the Whanganui River and hilly suburbs and surrounded by colourful heritage buildings and murals.

Once you have visited this busy marketplace, alongside are the restored riverboats,close by are cafes, a hot glass studio, artists studios and the downtown shopping centre of Victoria Avenue.
Dogs are welcome on a leash, masks and social distancing are still encouraged, and a warm, friendly atmosphere is guaranteed.
