The traditional practice of natural resource management - mahika kai – is of utmost importance to Kāi Tahu Whānui. A major aspiration of Te Rūnanga o Moeraki is to restore and re-connect to mahika kai, and with the support of Jobs for Nature funding from Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand, the Whiria te Waitaki project has allowed Moeraki whānau to return home to work together to restore the Waitaki River and its mahika kai. Hosted by the Ōamaru Library, join us to hear about this project and more. With: David Higgins – Upoko of Te Rūnanga o Moeraki, Patrick Tipa – Team Leader Whiria te Waitaki, Gareth Boyt – Te Rūnanga o Moeraki.
