Workshop: Park Photography

Cornwall Park is filled to the brim with interesting animals, structures and nature to photograph. But it can be hard sometimes to know the best way to capture everything you discover in the park. This workshop will help you to understand your camera settings better and give you the basics for creating high-quality photographs of your park adventures.

This workshop is open to people who have a general to good knowledge of their camera and would like to learn more about how to work the manual functions and photo composition. It does not include photography on smartphones.

The workshop will be run by Sonja Gardien. Sonja owns Studio 541 whose mission is to support, inspire and encourage emerging and established artists, and create an environment for learning and discussions in the area of photography and fine art.

Workshop numbers are limited so registration is essential. You will be asked the following questions during registration.

1. Make and model of your camera.
2. Lenses that you use and will be using.
3. Any things of interest in the park you would like to photograph.
4. Your skill level.

The workshop will be run outside in the park so please dress for the weather conditions, wear sturdy shoes and bring a drink bottle with you. Oh and make sure that your battery is charged! To attend our class you will need to present your My Vaccine Pass on arrival and scan our QR code. Masks are required while inside Huia Lodge, but not required for the outdoor component of the class. If you feel more comfortable wearing them the whole time, we support your decision.

This event will take place if it fits within the current Protection Framework restrictions and Government guidelines at the time. Possibility of postponement or cancellation if Framework restrictions and New Zealand Government guidelines change, or if the event is affected by staffing shortages.

This event will be facilitated and a My Vaccine Pass is required to attend. Please have your vaccine pass ready to present to the team on arrival as well as scanning the QR code.
