World of Cultures: Belly Dance Outdoors - Maungakiekie

In partnership with Auckland Council, we have a new outdoor belly dance class series open to all levels. Get together, dance together! Join us, in-person, for a fun, relaxing dance class. This is a FREE event.

Bring a towel to dance on (optional), layers, sunscreen, water bottle, and mask (not required while dancing and distanced). Vaccine passes are REQUIRED for Council events. We will observe Covid protocols for everyone's safety.

Phoenix Belly Dance is a multi-award-winning entertainment company and dance troupe based in Auckland, New Zealand. We love sharing the art of Middle Eastern dance through our classes, workshops, and performances that fuse contemporary concepts with the traditional roots of belly dance. Candice Frankland, the Director, has had the privilege of performing and teaching overseas, and has been working hard at growing the community and elevating belly dance in New Zealand to be taken as a serious dance form through extraordinary performances, theatre shows, collaborative projects, hosting international teachers and retreats.

Our vision is to develop and encourage participation by all people and especially women and young girls to take part in the art of belly dance and experience the joy, confidence, culture, and healing that this dance stimulates.
