Abacus Workshop - Wanda Gillespie Artist in Residence 2023

Wanda Gillespie’s abacus works reference the divine mathematics in nature as well as the re-evaluation of values that humanity has come to ponder in recent times.
In this workshop you will be creating your own creative abacus. Participants are invited to bring their own beads (this could be shells, stones, nuts, or other plant material), however we will provide wooden beads too. There will be an opportunity to create your own design within the parameters of the (pre-cut) abacus frame. A paper template will be used to assist the design process. Brass rods and rattan will be used with a wooden frame.
