The 2023 Leisure for Life Conference is for those who share a passion for studying the creation and consumption of life-changing leisure experiences. This year's event celebrates the 30th Anniversary of the Australia and New Zealand Association for Leisure Studies (ANZALS)

The week-long celebrations starts on the afternoon of Monday 4th December with the ANZALS student hui and hackathon and conclude four days later with a host of Tāmaki Makaurau-Auckland-based leisure experiences. The ANZALS Trans-Tasman Challenge will take place on the evening of Wednesday 6th and the Awards Dinner will be on Thursday 7th.

Those wanting a time to share their research activities/outputs or facilitate a round table korero are required to submit a 300 word abstract to the ANZALS2023 team before Friday 11th August 2023. Check the website for further details.

There are a range of special discounted pricing options available for students, retirees, early career scholars, AUT staff, industry professionals and ANZALS members. The earlybird discount deadline is  the 21st September (World Peace Day).

AUT’s City Campus provides an ideal setting with over 20 accommodation options located within a ten-minute walk, ranging from budget-friendly backpackers to luxurious five-star hotels, we ensure your stay will be comfortable and convenient. Discounted rates are available for delegates (visit conference website for details).

Those needing help to justify the social-economic-environmental costs attached to a long haul business trip to New Zealand, are encouraged to arrive a week earlier and join us at the 7 Experience Summit being hosted at AUT. Alternatively, you could plan a trip to the University of Otago, which is hosting the 17th World Leisure Congress the week after. Three events in three weeks!
