Kia ora, nau mai haere mai!
This 3 session course with amazing Kairaranga Lucy Smith will teach you about the tikanga (protocols) around harvesting and care of harakeke (flax plants), and you will learn how to make some exciting basic weaving, e.g. flax flowers and other little things to start.
Be sure to eat before you come, as there will be no eating or drinking while you mahi raranga. We will have a cup of tea set up in another area of the building.
If possible, our first trip will be to a local Pā Harakeke site in Dunedin. We will meet at the South Dunedin Community Network first.
If the class is full but you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email Nicola at dunedinwea@gmail.com or add yourself to the waiting list here on BookWhen.
This course is kindly funded by COGS, Lottery Community and the Otago Community Trust.
