In this workshop we will look at basic post-processing skills such as layers and masks which originated in Photoshop but are now used in many modern image processing programs. Bring your laptop and be ready for a hands-on session that will improve your skills at "enhancing" your photos in the computer. This is something that is vital in the photography world of today. This workshop is designed to take you from setting up Photoshop in the most efficient way, to processing your images to bring their full potential to realisation, and finishing with looking at the power of this magical, yet mysterious program.

Workshop requirements for attendees:
- Laptop with Photoshop installed - laptop charger and extension cord (multi-boxes are likely to be required too)
- A USB stick compatible with Windows upon which to put images that we will work on together - I will provide the images
- Mouse or Wacom tablet & pen
- Pen and paper for note taking
- A sense of fun and willingness to learn

Limited to 8 students.

About your tutor:
Helen McLeod first picked up a camera when she was a student, but her photography had to be put on hold while other avenues were pursued. Following the Canterbury Quakes, she set up 2 Galleries - 4 Seasons Photography and worked in numerous and diverse genres of photography. Helen now tutors in photography and editing techniques around the country in both a private capacity with her landscape and Photoshop workshops based in Central Otago, and for educational institutes.

Helen is a national and international award-winning photographer with her fine art compositions winning a number of accolades. She has also exhibited around the world and is represented by local galleries in Christchurch.

Supported by the Creative New Zealand Creative Communities Scheme.

About the Exhibition:

The 'Art of Photography' exhibition celebrates the medium of photography with an exhibition of over 60 printed works by both professional and amateur photographers from across the Selwyn District. Winning images from a public photography competition, open to all Selwyn residents, will also be printed and on display. Art lovers and photography enthusiasts are invited to come and view the exhibition and enjoy the diverse range of work from our talented local photographic community. You might also like to attend a variety of public talks and workshops hosted by Canterbury-based photographers. The exhibition runs from 13-25 July 2023 at Te Ara Atea, Rolleston Library.
