Kick off Valentine's Day early with a poignant Love Story, some wine and chocolate. All beautifully crafted for you and your loved one.

Bright Ink is pleased to invite you to a conversation, a glass of Sparkling Muscato Cuvee, handcrafted chocolate and a book signing with our local Queenstown author Franciska Soares. Soares is the newly published author of 'They Whisper in My Blood', a feel-good saga of two families: One Indian and one Portuguese, who are thrown together by colonialism, severed by the cruelty of disparate cultures but united ultimately by the power of love. Anyone who has experienced and triumphed over socially-sanctioned discrimination which stifles dreams and hopes will identify with the tragic but ultimately unbowed characters in the novel. Combining the literary pizzaz of 'A passage to India', the cultural nuances of characters found in novels like 'The God of Small Things' and 'The Joy Luck Club', the poignancy of 'The Bridges of Madison County', the wondrously inspirational, life-affirming plot of 'A Long Way Home', 'They Whisper in My Blood' captures the deep essence of the struggles endured by those of us who are mangled by tradition, prejudices, superstitions and snobbery bred out of xenophobia.

Books will be available for purchase at the signing event or online at all good bookstores including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Booktopia, Fishpond, The Nile, James Bennett, ALS ...

Audiobooks can be purchased here: Spotify, Chirp, Barnes & Noble, Audible Amazon ...

Proof of purchase (paperback or audiobook versions only) will earn the reader a glass of Sparkling Muscato Cuvee and handcrafted chocolate.

Some glowing five-star reviews on Goodreads:

'They whisper in my blood is incomparable to anything I have ever read before. In turns joyful, evocative, disturbing, intriguing and heartbreaking, it takes you on a journey into locales across eras that are unfamiliar and fascinating.'

'Franciska’s voice in her debut novel They Whisper in My Blood is very distinctive indeed. The narrative, which cuts a swathe across three centuries and as many continents, creates a haunting reading experience fostering in the reader an allegiance with its many visceral characters that dance, and prance across the pages of the novel, a novel I therefore found hard to put down.'

'Though history abounds, the author does not play the narrative as a costume drama, the characters are fully realized, not cardboard cutouts fashioned from relics of some history textbook. Franciska inhabits the characters, breathing three-dimensional life into them.'

'Remarkable use of language evokes a strong sense of place.'

'Epic historical saga. Moving, exciting and enthralling. Highly recommended.'
