Calla + Special Guests I.V.Y.

Calla is returning home for a special show following the success of her sophomore album release and first national tour, where she performed 17 shows up the country. For this show Calla will be performing with synth bass and double bass player, Sam Healey. Expect a small taste of new material, and maybe even a cheeky Christmas carol.

A modern operatic folk bass phenomenon, Calla uses vocal and violin looping alongside her complex electronic production to catch and hold your attention. Traversing the terrain of "Dark Indie", Calla builds sonic journeys that are most often described as "cinematic", "transformative", and "ethereal". An operatically trained soprano, Calla brings an entirely new approach to opera that is dynamic and electric. Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian artists such as Eivør and Aurora, Calla unashamedly taps into her soul and whakapapa as she weaves her soundscapes.

Joining her are Dunedin Local Band I.V.Y, offering one last hoorah before the madness of Christmas.
