If joining the train at Wellington, enjoy a steam hauled experience to the small coastal town of Paekakariki and return, where you'll be served a beverage and a selection of cheeses upon our departure from Paekakariki. After our return into Wellington, sit back and enjoy a freshly prepared main meal and another drink at the Wellesley Boutique Hotel, followed by a beautiful dessert to finish off your special evening experience.
If joining the train at Paekakariki, our staff will indulge you in a beverage and a selection of cheeses on our trip into Wellington, before arriving at the Wellesley Boutique Hotel for a freshly prepared main course. Rejoin the train at Wellington's Platform 9, where you'll complete your meal with dessert served on our northbound trip home.
The buffet dinner provided by the Wellesley Boutique Hotel includes a choice of either Beef Stroganoff or Roasted Pork Belly, accompanied by a selection of Roasted Root Vegetables with cumin, honey and goat's cheese, as well as "Pommes Lyonnaise", layered potatoes baked with fresh herbs and caramelised onions, and a seasonal garden salad.
The building that today houses the Wellesley Boutique Hotel in central Wellington was designed by architect Gray Young and completed in 1929. It won an Institute of Architects Gold Medal and is considered one of the finest examples of neo-Georgian architecture in Wellington. From the spiral staircase to the floor tiling and light fittings, the building is a testament to the character and beauty of the era, while combining modern features and design to create a Wellington boutique hotel with style and class unlike any other.
