Celebrating Christchurch Pride Week, Canterbury Film Society would like to invite everyone, over 16, to come along for our free screening of John Waters' Polyester (1981 • 86 mins • USA • R16)
Baltimore housewife Francine Fishpaw (Divine) is cursed with a philandering pornographer husband, a parasitic mother, and a pair of delinquent children — but deliverance appears in the form of a hunk named Todd Tomorrow. "It’s hilarious and hyper, trashy yet touching and wonderfully Waters, and the 4K restoration makes its suburban pastels really pop." (Steve Brown, Attitude)
The Canterbury Film Society offers weekly screenings of top-quality films – arthouse, classic, cult, documentary, world cinema and more – on the big screen. We screen on Monday night at 7.30pm, doors open 7.00pm with drinks and home-baked food for purchase.
This is an open event to celebrate Christchurch Pride Week and non-members are encouraged to come and join us with admission by donation/koha at the door. Non-ticketed: first come, first served so arrive early to avoid disappointment. Film has been rated R16.
