Join Te Vaka Cook Islands of Dunedin for a celebration of Cook Islands Language Week at Tūhura Otago Museum.
Share in the community's rich cultural traditions with dancing, singing, and music. There will be performances and demonstrations throughout the day, and collection items from the Cook Islands will be displayed on level one.
This special occasion is open to all who are keen to celebrate.
Atrium Level 1
10am – Pure akameitaki ki te Atua (Blessing)
10am – ʻEi katu (head garland) workshop with Ma'taria and Teina, accompanied by string band sounds from Te Vaka
11am – Ura Fitness class with Kheelan & Sakaria. BYO pāreu, water bottle, gym towel
Hutton Theatre
1pm – Drumming history and drumming session with Te Vaka drummers
2pm – Te Vaka performance
10am – 3pm, Saturday 5 August
