Riccarton Players Inc is proud to present "Crimes of the Heart," a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Beth Henley, directed by acclaimed theatre director, Doug Clarke. The play will be performed at the Rangi Ruru Girls’s School Drama Theatre, Christchurch, from 13th March to 22nd April 2023.

Set in a small town in Mississippi, "Crimes of the Heart" tells the story of the three Magrath sisters - Lenny, Meg, and Babe - who reunite at their family home after a long time apart. The sisters each struggle with their own personal crises, including marital problems, mental health issues, and legal troubles. As they confront their past and present, they come to understand the true meaning of family and forgiveness.

Beth Henley's play has captivated audiences and critics alike since its premiere in 1979, earning numerous awards and nominations, including the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. With its compelling characters, sharp wit, and poignant themes, "Crimes of the Heart" is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences today.
Director Doug Clarke has assembled an outstanding cast of actors, including Rachael Chamberlain as Lenny, Sarah Coursey as Meg, and Bex Manning as Babe, along with a talented crew of designers and technicians who will bring the play's setting and atmosphere to life.
