The Hawkes Bay Youth Theatre Associates class present Lindsay Price's ensemble piece 'Darklight' which explores depression and anxiety in teens. Darklight's characters have conflicts within themselves, struggle with intrusive thoughts, and have surreal conversations. The cast’s thoughtful connection with this piece is evident in their mature interpretation of the play. In this piece, as in the real world, some characters will fail and some will find hope. Overall, the message that no matter how dark things get, there is always light is best conveyed by the writer of the play, Lindsay Price: “There are always stars, even if you can’t see them. They are there. You have to believe they are always there.”
