Dean Cooper is a Hutt photographer at Petone’s Artspace seaside art & gift gallery. They are proud to welcome Dean for his first solo exhibition in their upstairs photography exhibition space July and August.

Dean’s love of photography started when his grandparents gave him a basic point and shoot film camera at the age of 14. He was fascinated at the cameras ability to capture memories with a click of the shutter. What started out as a hobby soon developed into a passion resulting in a special collection of stunning photos.

Through his photography, Dean strives to capture our unique landscape in a way that reflects how he sees it through his lens. He gets a great deal of satisfaction in capturing a special moment in time and being able to share it.

In Dean’s words: ‘’We are lucky to live in such a diverse country here in New Zealand and I take every opportunity to explore the scenery. My love of the outdoors drives me to search for hidden gems in my local area around Wellington or exploring another region whilst on holiday with my family.’’

Dean gets great joy and pleasure from his photography and this clearly comes across in his work. He enjoys learning and exploring various new and special techniques to achieve striking photos of everyday scenes for us to enjoy. His amazing photo art is developing a strong following, particularly with locals who share his love of the Wellington region.

Artspace gallery is located at 223 The Esplanade Petone and is open from Wednesday – Sunday 10.30am to 4pm during winter.
