Do you struggle with harsh self-critique, negative thoughts and self-judgements?

Face negative thoughts head-on and experience the soothing power of Art Therapy against critical thoughts and self-judgement.

As part of my Art Therapy tasters, this 1-hour group challenges the crippling self-judgment using Art Therapy skills. In 1-hour you will face these thoughts head-on and experience the healing power of Art Therapy against self-critical thoughts and judgments.

-You will access connection to a freer self, through learning to let go during the group
-Supporting you through journaling, reflective prompts and art therapy exercises to challenge self-judgement
-Experience a multi-modality Art Therapy group, also incorporating methods used in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Inner Child work.

You do not need any experience with art making in any way. This is not an art class.

Art in this group is just a mechanism to deepen self-development, therapy and healing work. Just show up with an open mind, a piece of paper, a journal and an art material of choice.

What you will need:

1-2 types of art-making tools. This can be just a pen with paper to keep it simple, but you're welcome to bring colouring pencils, markers, paints or even a digital tablet.
Journaling will be involved, so if you have a physical journal bring it with something to write with, or you can use your phone or laptop for journal entries.

Please use a computer, phone or laptop for the workshop, with it facing you and/or your art-making, where possible. Use a desk with some space for this setup and some materials to work with besides you.

Things to note:

You will be sent a meeting link within 24 hours prior to the workshop and again within 1 hour prior to starting. You are welcome to test the link 5-10 minutes beforehand.

If you have not received any meeting link close to the workshop starting, check your junk/spam mail first, and then get in touch if not there.

Please test your desk setup, laptop and materials beforehand.

This workshop will not be recorded, and recording and screenshots are not permitted.
You can cancel 24-hrs prior. Late cancellations or exiting, will not qualify for a refund.
This is not a substitute for professional therapy, this is for educational purposes only.

About the Host

Kia ora, my name is Tanisha. I identify as a racialized black female of Caribbean and European heritage, born and raised in the UK where I originally trained in Art Psychotherapy. Currently living in New Zealand, I work with a large range of individuals from Maori, Pasifika, East Asian, African, Middle Eastern and pakeha clients.

I also facilitate workshops with clients from all over the world, most of whom are in need of a therapist that can offer a safe, creative and comfortable space to explore issues around race, sexuality and cultural identity. Our ongoing community needs, advocacy and my own experiences are the reason I create these accessible, educational events, courses and workshops.
