This is New Zealand’s longest-running music competition, and to celebrate its 143rd year, the National Brass Band Championships are coming to Dunedin.

From Wednesday, 5 to Saturday, 8 July, the Dunedin Centre will resonate with the sound of brass and percussion as more than 1000 musicians from around the country compete for the title of Champion Band and Champion Soloist.

There is also a Street March starting at 1.00pm on Friday, 7 July, down Princes Street and through the Octagon.

Most of the events are free of charge, so pop in to hear one soloist or stay for the whole day.
Tickets for events on Wednesday evening and Thursday evening are $20 for general admission with Under 18-year-olds free of charge. These can be booked through Ticketmaster.co.nz
