Beautiful new works by Palmerston North painter.

Inspired by a pre-lockdown visit to Arles and the Van Gogh Live exhibition, Julia began producing artwork with the intent of capturing the personalities of flowers. Drawing on the works of Van Gogh for reference, Julia started painting sunflowers and irises in a flamboyant style - layering paint with textured, unblended brush strokes.

In Flowers, Julia shows the evolution of her early experiments into a thriving body of work. Retaining Van Gogh as her inspiration, Julia renders native New Zealand flowers such as kowhai alongside sunflowers and succulents in her own unique style, defined by vivid colour and rich textures.
