Free Community Snorkel | Whitireia Park

Come on down to Whitireia Park and join Mountains to Sea Wellington for one of our free summer community snorkel events.

Brought to you in partnership with Greater Wellington Regional Council, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see the beauty of our underwater world.

Take a peek at the fascinating array of marine organisms that live right here on our doorstep, out of sight, just under the surface. We will have local ocean experts joining us on dry land to share their knowledge on seaweed, sponges and many other amazing creatures found along our coastline.

Beginner snorkelers are encouraged (but you must be comfortable in the water). We provide all the gear free of charge and will also buddy you up with an experienced snorkel guide to facilitate the best experience possible. Our guides will get you kitted out, answer any fishy questions you might have and generally look after you whilst you take a dive into the salt and spray.

What to bring: Togs, towel, sunhat, sunscreen, warm clothes, drink bottle and snacks.

Please note the minimum age for snorkelling is 8 years, and children below 16 must be accompanied by a snorkelling adult.
