Join the Friends of the Arts Centre for a Fundraising Film Night on Wednesday 13th September in aid of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre.
There will be a glass of bubbles* and some canapés in the upstairs Bijou bar at Lumière Cinemas at 6pm, followed by a private showing of the movie “Country Cabaret” (“Les Folies Fermières”), rated M for Offensive language.
This is an outrageous French comedy, based on a fabulous true story. A young farmer is facing the prospect of losing his farm through bankruptcy. He watched a dazzling cabaret show in the local town and comes up with the idea to stage his own cabaret show in his barn with the aid of an out-of-work exotic dancer. A crazy plan – but can they save the farm?
Tickets are $30, and all proceeds go to the Friends of the Arts Centre, who support projects at The Arts Centre.
Lumière Cinemas are located at 26 Rolleston Avenue. The screening will be in the Bernhardt Theatre which is located on the second floor, the Bijou bar is also located on the second floor. There is full accessibility access to the theatre via a lift, which is entered from the North Quadrangle.
