Gin & the Collection

Want a fancy night out that features award-winning boutique cocktails and a behind-the-scenes glimpse of Tūhura Otago Museum's collection? Of course you do—there'll be cocktails and culture. Swap the crocs for absolutely anything else and get down here.

We mean that literally: you'll be touring our basement. It's usually off-limits, so this is your chance to peer behind the curtain and see collection items that aren't on display. Museum staff will show you our conservation lab and collections stores and tell you what researchers have discovered by studying some of the objects housed here.

When you re-emerge, a delicious antipasto array will be waiting in our Atrium, and Alchemist Mixology will be on hand to create cocktails from top-shelf spirits. Their garnishes and mixers are sourced in Aotearoa, as is the artisanal Lady H Gin that will be available for tasting.

This is an R18 event and tickets are $45 per person, which includes the guided collections tour, posh nibbles, and boutique gin. Limited spaces are available, so don't wait too long to book.
