800 Degrees glass brings a new 1.5 day workshop. Course participants will learn the art of creating a clay open-faced cast for casting glass using lead crystal glass. Make your own small hand held sculpture using clay to manipulate and create a simple form, either 3D or 2D.. Or make a glass block.

You will learn techniques of rolling out clay for the form you wish to create, and will be demonstrated during the beginning of the workshop.

Participants will invest their clay model and learn about moulds for open castings as well as filling the negative space with lead crystal glass. You will also have an option of relief carving to imbue in a block of investment which will provide students with a hands on skills in creating relief carving for your cast finished piece.

A very hands-on workshop and limited to a maximum of four people only. Day one will be making your models and investing ready for the glass filling and then your moulds will be fired during the week and you will return the following Saturday for the half-day to demould your unique creations. This workshop will include up to half a kg of gaffer lead crystal. Any extra glass is at extra costs.
