At this workshop you'll learn everything you need to know, to start growing kuumara at home.
Not only is homegrown kuumara yummier than store bought, it's cheaper, creates less waste and reduces emissions from transport!
The first step is to start propagating - which is growing shoots from your tuber. At this workshop you'll be shown different methods of doing this, and learn how to split them in spring when it's time to plant. Kuumara can be grown in gardens, or containers - we'll talk about how.
If you can, please bring along a kuumara (preferably one you can source that was locally grown) and an ice-cream container. Please register via Eventbrite - and note the workshop is at Go Eco on the 1 of September, and Waimarie Community Garden on the 8 of September.
This workshop will be facilitated by Michael Heiler, our Community Kai Educator, resident gardener and aborist who takes a permaculture approach to the relationship of food growing & the environment.
