Handel Consort & Quire - Athaliah

Athaliah is one of Handel's best oratorios.

Full of exuberant choruses with some really powerful showstoppers in 8-parts and a wide range of jaunty and exquisite airs to complement the choruses. The story revolves around the rather unpleasant Queen Athaliah who orders the death of any possible challengers to her crown, but one little boy slips through the net and, living under a false name, eventually is declared the rightful king, and Athaliah meets an untimely demise.

Soloists include Gina Sanders, Elizabeth Mandeno, Cecily Shaw, Jordan Fuimaono and Stephen Duncan.
